Dy Patil T20 Cup Cricket Match Results
The Mumbai-based Dr. D.Y.Patil T20 Cup Cricket match was held at the Wankhede Stadium on October 5th. The tournament pitted eight of the country’s most talented university teams against each other.
In the first match, Anna University from Chennai took on the defending champions, Jawaharlal Nehru University from Delhi. Anna University won by a slim margin. Sachin Kumar of Anna University scored 64 runs in his team’s total of 160 runs. In reply, Jyoti Prakash Jha of Jawaharlal Nehru scored 42 runs but his team fell 18 runs short of the target.
In the second match, the University of Pune beat the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi. Captain Abhishek Kulkarni of the University of Pune scored 74 runs off 66 balls. His team finished with 146 runs, setting a daunting target. IIT Delhi, in reply, could only manage 119 runs with Rohit Sharma top-scoring with 27 runs.
In the third match, it was the turn of the University of Mumbai against the University of Rajasthan. The Mumbai team batted first and put up 130 runs with Chinmay Zagade contributing 59 runs. University of Rajasthan could only manage 111 runs in reply as they fell short by 19 runs and registered their first defeat of the tournament.
At the end of the day, all eight participating teams had finished their group-stage matches, with Anna University emerging as the group table toppers. The semi-finals and final of the Dr. DY Patil T20 Cup will be held in the coming weeks.
