Indian Cricket Team Vice-Captain, Rohit Sharma, is all set to create history, as he is on the verge of being declared the new ‘God of Cricket in All Formats’.
The 32-year-old cricketer has a vastly successful record, including three back-to-back ODI double centuries and two T20 centuries. He has also scored a second-highest individual score in One Day International format, with a whopping 264 against Sri Lanka in November 2014.
Rohit Sharma scored an incredible ton in the first test match against Windies, which puts him in pole position to become the record-holder for the highest number of runs in all three formats of the game – Test, ODI, & T20.
This incredible cricketing record surpasses Sachin Tendulkar’s records as the only male cricketer to score more than 10000 runs in all three formats of cricket combined. This record was previously held by the late Sir Jack Hobbs.
The Indian Cricket Board has already created a huge fan base for Rohit Sharma, with his ongoing performances and media appearances. It has also begun to make him financially one of the highest paid cricketers in the world.
With these milestones achieved in such a short time, it looks likely that Rohit Sharma will soon be crowned the ‘God of Cricket’ in All Formats.
New God of cricket in IPL
The Indian Premier League (IPL) is full of surprises as every season brings with it new talent that can take the game to the next level. This season has been no different with a newcomer named Prithvi Shaw bursting onto the scene as the new God of Cricket in the IPL.
The 18 year old batsman has already taken the IPL by storm with his incredible batting performances. He has already scored two centuries in seven innings in the tournament and is set to be a major part of Mumbai Indians success in this edition of the IPL.
Prithvi has been extremely impressive so far and has already gained plaudits from some of the biggest names in cricket. His technique has been praised by legendary figures such as Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag and he looks set to be a major force in the game in the coming years.
His batting is not the only thing setting him apart from rest of players in the IPL as his fielding and bowling skills are also noteworthy. He has saved a few games for his team by taking important catches at crucial moments and has also taken key wickets in crunch situations.
It’s clear from his performances so far that the future of cricket lies in the hands of Prithvi Shaw. He is already being compared with the likes of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar and his performances in the IPL make him a serious contender to become the next batting superstar of Indian cricket.
Who is the New God of Cricket after Sachin?
The game of cricket has been revolutionized over the last decade and a half by Sachin Tendulkar, who has achieved legendary status and is often referred to as the God of Cricket. With tremendous ever-lasting impact on the sport, Sachin created a void that needs to be filled by a successor.
Although there are many players that dominate the current cricketing climate, none of them have been able to achieve the status and success that Sachin Tendulkar did. These include Joe Root, Virat Kohli, Steve Smith, and Kane Williamson.
Though these are all excellent players and captains of their respective teams, most of them have yet to take the mantle of being the undisputed leader across all cricketing nations that Sachin Tendulkar enjoyed.
Rashid Khan is a young, 20-year-old Afghan cricketer who is widely touted as the new ‘God of Cricket’ by many. After bursting onto the international stage, he had an extremely successful Test debut, taking 11 wickets in the World Cup this year. Rashid is quickly becoming one of the most feared bowlers in the world and has been lifting the spirit of cricket in his country.
Rashid Khan is definitely a great talent. He is still in the early stages of his career and has a long way to go before he can take the title of being the new God of Cricket. The young Afghan cricketer is sure to be an inspiration to many more upcoming cricket talents in the future. Only time will tell if Rashid Khan is the dawn of a new era of cricketing excellence.
